This copycat chili recipe was tucked into the family recipe notebook alongside all of Grandma's originals. She made it her own over the years, and it became a cold-weather favorite that simmered on the stove all afternoon.
Ingredients
- 2 lbs hamburger
- 29 oz can tomato sauce
- 29 oz can kidney beans with liquid
- 29 oz can pinto beans with liquid
- 1 cup diced onion
- 1/2 cup diced green chili
- 1/4 cup diced celery
- 3 medium tomatoes, chopped
- 2 tsp cumin
- 3 tbsp chili powder
- 1½ tsp black pepper
- 2 tsp salt
- 2 cups water
Instructions
- Brown hamburger and drain.
- Add all remaining ingredients.
- Stir frequently and cook on low heat for 2–3 hours.
