This lasagna recipe was passed down from Grandma Dona Johnson herself, preserved in the family notebook. Layers of rich meat sauce, creamy cottage cheese filling, and melted mozzarella — the way lasagna was meant to be.
Ingredients
Meat Sauce
- 1 lb hamburger
- 1 tbsp Italian seasoning
- 1½ tsp salt
- 2 cups tomatoes
- 2 cans tomato paste
Cheese Mixture
- 3 cups cottage cheese
- 1/2 cup Parmesan
- 2 tbsp dry parsley
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp pepper
Other
- 1 pkg extra wide noodles
- 2 lbs mozzarella, sliced
Instructions
- Brown hamburger and drain.
- Add Italian seasoning, salt, tomatoes, and tomato paste. Simmer 30 minutes.
- Mix together the cheese mixture ingredients.
- Cook noodles according to package directions.
- Layer in a casserole dish: noodles, meat sauce, cheese mixture, mozzarella slices. Repeat layers.
- Bake at 350°F for 30 minutes.
