Another gem from the family recipe notebook — this barbecue sauce was made in big batches and canned for the year. Sweet, tangy, and thick enough to coat anything that comes off the grill.
Ingredients
- 1 lb butter
- 1 large onion
- 3 cups ketchup
- 3/4 cup lemon juice
- 3/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
- 3/4 cup mustard
- 4 tsp chili powder
- 1½ cups chili sauce
- 3 cups brown sugar
- 1/2 cup cornstarch mixed with 1 cup cold water
Instructions
- Melt butter and sauté onions until clear.
- Add all ingredients except brown sugar and cornstarch mixture. Bring to a boil.
- Add brown sugar and bring to a boil again.
- Add cornstarch and water mixture. Stir until thick.
