This homemade salad dressing has its own special page in the family recipe notebook, written in Grandma Sharon's hand. Once you taste it, you will understand why no one in the family ever reaches for a store-bought bottle.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup grated onions
- 1 cup ketchup
- 2 tsp salt
- 4 tbsp brown sugar
- 1½ cups vinegar
- 2 cups salad oil
- 1½ cups white sugar
- 1 tsp dry mustard
Instructions
- In a saucepan, combine the grated onions, ketchup, salt, and brown sugar.
- Cook over medium heat for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Remove from heat and let cool completely.
- Add vinegar, salad oil, white sugar, and dry mustard to the cooled mixture.
- Blend well until everything is smooth and combined.
- Store in a jar in the refrigerator.
